The Low Down on Hyaluronic Acid

The Low Down on Hyaluronic Acid

If you’re into skin care like myself, then you’ve probably heard the words hyaluronic acid before. If you are newly diving into skin care or just looking to develop a great skin care foundation of basics — then H.A. is definitely one you need to add to the list.

Don’t worry as scary as the word acid sounds—it’s not so in this case. Hyaluronic acid which comes (hyalauron) is naturally occurring carbohydrate molecule found in the body and it’s particularly important for your skin’s health.

These days plenty of brands have resourced this as an ingredient in many skin care products because of the amazing ability that hyaluronic acid has to retain moisture.

Hyaluronic acid acts as a humectant when applied to the skin. This means that it’s a magnet for moisture and the skin just drinks all of that lovely moisture in.

Not only is it important for restoring moisture back into the skin, but it’s also great for creating a protective barrier between your skin and free radicals that cause damage to the skin and cause your skin to age faster. It’s healing benefits allows for skin regeneration too and helps with skin sagging.

How do you use it though? Well in the same way that you would a primer to your face right before foundation, you’d want to do the same with hyaluronic acid right before your moisture. And while many brands use hyaluronic acid as an ingredient in a variety of products—you’d probably get the best results by using a serum.

You can find plenty of great serums that get the job done and I’ve included some down below. If you’d like to find out what else your skin care regimen is in need of check out my post TWO WORDS: HYDRATE & GLOW
