My New Favorite Soap-Free Cleansers

My New Favorite Soap-Free Cleansers

This weeks star buys are Botanics All Bright Foaming Face Wash by Boots and Muji’s Mild Gel Cleanser. I don’t put a whole lot of stock into really expensive cleansers, but I do put in a lot of stock into a good cleanse that actually cleans and doesn’t strip my face of total moisture. I have really been enjoying Muji’s travel sized gel cleanser as a first cleanse which I purchased for $5.50.  I’ve never used a gel cleanser before and I rarely ever double cleanse, but lately I’ve been incorporating it into my nightly skin care regimen.  What I love about this gel cleanser and actually the concept of a gel type cleanser instead of an oil base, is how quick it is to use.  I feel that with oil cleansers you can find yourself working the product onto your face for a while which is fine, if you don’t mind taking the time before you double cleanse. Sometimes I don’t mind, but for the days that I do or if I need to cleanse quickly- the slick of a gel combined with water seems to make the whole process fast and effective.

Muji’s Mild Cleansing Gel was a great first for me and I’m definitely purchasing the full size tube. This travel size one is actually going to be perfect in my travel bag. The fragrance is fresh and invigorating and the packaging is minimal which I think is clean. The cleansing gel is suppose to be great for all skin types and is described to contain apricot juice and peach leaf extract as naturally moisturizing the skin and is soap free which makes me feel good about using on my skin.  I’m on the dryer side and feel totally comfortable after rinsing it off. I feel like it’s also great for removing makeup and I made sure to use a cotton ball to see just how much it removed.  I was pretty surprised at how effective it was in cleansing however I would definitely recommend it as a first step in double cleansing because I could still see minimal trace of makeup. Which is the perfect segue to this other cleanser.

I don’t know about anyone else but I feel particularly better about a cleanser foaming. Maybe I think it’s more effective in cleansing if it foams up or maybe it’s just satisfying. So I wanted to try Botanics All Bright Foaming Face Wash by Boots. According to the websites description:

“This foaming soap-free face wash, infused with natural exfoliants from the hibiscus plant, gently lifts away dirt, excess oil and impurities from the surface of the skin. The complexion is left feeling clean and looking brighter.”

I can say that I agree with the entire description! I love this cleanser, for $5.99 a pop, it’s effective and a joy to use. I enjoy the gentle lather and it’s  a great cleanser to use for any skin type, dry, combination, sensitive, and oily.  I’ve even noticed it has helped with ski tone unevenness.  The best part is that this cleanser is phthalate-free, butylparaben-free, formaldehyde donor-free, formaldehyde-free, nonylphenol ethoxylate free, propylparaben-free, Sulfate-free, Soap-free!
