I remember when the the thought of starting a blog seemed so intimidating to me. I never thought I’d have what it takes to be a blogger and I didn’t know where to start. I did some research, but really learned as I went and really—anyone can do it! I laid out 6 basic steps to becoming a blogger that’ll get you up and running in no time at all!
The thing is, if you got an interest then you’re interesting enough. Turn your interests into your own outlet and have fun doing it! Personally blogging has had somewhat of an easy flow over the past year that I’m actually pretty surprised. I thought for sure I’d have writers block or I would have no idea what to write about or that I wouldn’t even be able to develop a niche. I’ve really enjoyed learning how to make it a more cohesive blog too although it’s not something I initially focused on. Trust in the flow!
Step One
Plan out a basic list of your interests and think about what you’d want your blog to be called. This is about you and the things you enjoy so try not to be too serious.
Step Two
Sign up with a hosting company that already has the blogging platform included. I use BlueHost because they offer an awesome affordable package when you bundle up! The bonus is that they have WordPress and the installation is easy. I do have an affiliate link with them if you want sign up here.
Select your plan
Choose a domain name (included in your BlueHost package for free!)
Step Three:
Install WordPress through your Bluehost Cpanel. That’s the great thing about Bluehost is that they know WordPress is still at the top as far as online blogging platforms go and so they make it easy to set it up and if you have trouble their awesome customer support team will actually get back to you quickly.
Step Four:
Pick a WordPress theme. This is where all the fun happens so think about your own personal aesthetic and have fun!
Step Five:
Create and link all social media accounts. By doing this you make it easier for your readers to want to share to social media.
Step Six:
Get to writing! Now that you’ve got the bones of your blog setup, give your blog life! Don’t forget to add pictures! People love pictures the nicer the better!
Great tips for new bloggers! Thanks for sharing.
This is great for newbies! The best part is being able to pick out a theme and get creative with the look of your blog!

Very well-written and great explanation! You are so right about adding pictures in blog posts too. They definitely make the posts more engaging and as the saying goes, “A picture is worth a thousand words.”
Great post! Shared this on Twitter.
