This month I’ve been enjoying a new app called 8fit. Now I can admit that I’ve gotten pretty lazy over the past year or so when it comes to fitness.
I seem to stay on track for a couple of months then ditch a couple of work outs here and there. Before I know it, it’s the new year, another resolution out the window and I’m back to the start. Well I’ve repeated that cycle for years. The lack of motivation is my biggest killer now and the idea of working out feels like a looming task that I just wish I could be over and done with. I remember the days when I actually looked forward to my routine run after work. Those days are gone and I realize that it’s going to take baby steps to get back to that level of commitment. All I can do is start anyway so this app has definitely been coming through for me.
So the way it works is you fill out your profile. You set up the goal weight you’d like to achieve and you get the option to choose 2, 4, or 6 months to achieve this goal. Based on your level of activity you can also choose how hard you want to work out. Lastly you schedule your week of work outs and you are set for short interval workouts with a video guide while you workout. I’m at least intermediate, so my workouts have been short, but sweet and intense. I think I’ve broken a sweat during one workout session which lasted no longer than 8 minutes, more than I ever have working out at the gym for an hour on my own. Yes I am aware if I’m not breaking a sweat, then I’m not working out properly, but I guess being comfortable in working out the wrong way has been part of the problem. Being comfortable is the problem.
This app forces me to push myself, build my endurance, and I love it. Did I mention the music selection is awesome. From electronic dance to hip hop, I’ve definitely fallen in love with the music selection. Definitely try it, I’ve officially completed about a week and a half on it, have worked out everyday minus the weekend and I feel so good about my upcoming week!
