So I can definitely say the month of January has been great fitness wise. I mean I said I wanted to stay committed to a fitness regimen and so far so good. However, my diet is another beast that needs to be tackled. My one weakness is sweets so finding a keto dessert was high on my list of priorities!I briefly experienced what it was like to be ketogenic— a word I had no idea about up until a few months ago when I decided to try it. The way Keto works is by transforming the way your body functions. Usually we consume carbs and our body turns that into glucose and insulin. The fat that we consumed is usually just stored which is the weight we’re trying to lose. So Keto instead with the low-carb/high fat diet can basically just use the fats you’re consuming as an energy source. Yes it is entirely possible to do so. So to make a long story short, you’re pretty much transforming your body into a fat burning machine. Given of course that you are in fact making sure you’re keeping track of your fat/carb/protein grams.
I was going strong for a couple of weeks which is usually how long it takes to get your body into a stage of ketosis. I thought I’d share bits and pieces of my experience going full throttle Keto. So here is one of my keto snack recipes that I prepared for the week. I’m definitely a snacker so having these will satisfy my hunger during the work day.
Ingredients
2-3 Tbsp Cacao Powder (unsweetened)
1/2 cup Coconut Oil
1/2 cup Almomd Butter
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a bowl (warming the coconut oil helps)
- Set in the freezer until the mixture is not runny
- Pour mixture into any mini cup cake cups or any silicon molding
