For as long as I can remember, this brand has been a front runner in the hair care game for naturals and has continued to be a staple in many hair care araenals. I’ve tried my hardest to wait and use up all of my other products before trying purchasing more new products, however, I just wasn’t happy with my hair care supply and I was still looking for a brand that was going to work for me. I can happily say that my 3b hair is in love with this range.
Everything I Needed Was Right In Front of Me
I always noticed Cantu on shelves, but for some reason never thought to try it. I will say that I have only been on a natural hair journey for a few months now, and would probably not have thought to try any natural hair friendly products before, out of fear that they’d be overly moisturizing in that sort of waxy, greasy sort of a way if that makes any sense. I’ll use Carol’s daughter as an example. You definitely do not want to attempt to flat iron your hair after using any Carol’s Daughter products.
The range that I’ve been loving all month is the Cantu’s Shea Butter for Natural Hair. I purchased the Cleansing Cream Shampoo, Hydrating Cream Conditioner, Deep Treatment Mask, and the Leave-In Conditioning Cream on an impromptu trip to Target as is often the case. Per the label this range claims to be free of sulfates, silicons, parabens and mineral oil, and most importantly for me–they’re safe on colored hair. They’re priced at about $4.99-$5.99 and you get a great amount of product in each bottle and tub.
I always get so excited about new products, but I was definitely ready to be disappointed as I had been with many of my hair care purchase over the last couple of months. But luckily my hair has been drinking this stuff up! The Cleansing Cream Shampoo has a gentle lather that really gets the job done. Not only was finger detangling my 3b hair easy, but my hair really feels moisturized and my scalp clean after using it everytime. The Cleansing Cream Conditioner has a great consistency as well and is also very moisturizing, even after rinsing it completely out. Both just go so wonderfully together with a gorgeous silky slip and they are just do enjoyable to use.
Following the conditioner on wash day, I use the Deep Treatment Mask which claims to repair and restore dry and damaged hair. Now I’m not sure if that means this is a deeply nourishing moisturizing mask or if it’s more like a protein treatment type product. It definitely leaves my hair feeling the way it usually does after a protein treatment which leads me to believe it is one. But if it’s strengthening my 3b hair I’m ok with that. However, to counter that I follow with the Leave-In Conditioner which can also be used daily.
I’ve noticed that my 3b hair has been way less frizzy, moisturized and so much softer the entire time up until my next wash day which is awesome! At the moment I am totally happy with this range and don’t plan on changing anything about it! To check out more posts on natural hair topics go here!
