If you’re anything like me and love that put together with no effort look—then you might be curious to learn some French girl beauty tips. The ease of the French woman’s make-up routine tends to be low maintenance. It is as if they always wake up on the right side of the bed when really, the amount of energy they put into looking flawless it almost minimum to none. The ease of following a French woman’s make-up routine will not only have you looking light and natural, but it can possibly save you so much time in a day.
Moderation Is Key
Full coverage, contouring, those are things you will not find in a French woman’s vanity. French girl beauty is a bit more natural-looking. The number one approach to take before anything else is to take care of your skin. French girls may not spend a whole lot on filling up their shelves with make-up, but they do take their skincare routine seriously. They are all about hydrating, moisturizing, sun protection, cleansing, and toning. Some women even take it as far as not adding sugary and high processed food to their diet.
Prep
There are only essentially six steps to achieving French girl beauty. The first step is to prep your base with heaps of hydration. This leads back to having healthy skin. Prepping the face with the right moisturizer can melt the rest of your makeup else right into place. Having something like a three-in-one BB cream that’s moisturizing, provides light coverage, and has SPF is perfect and can combine into step two.
Natural Beat
The second step would be to add a light coverage – and we cannot take the word “light” lightly. You are not trying to “cake” your face with covering everything under foundation. A little bit of concealer to cover some blemishes or dark circles will do. This also means no contouring and bronzing. It is commended to work with the natural shape of your face. Your face shape is not to be looked at as a flaw but to accentuate it, not cover it.
The only subtle touches you would want to work with to frame your face is on your brows and cheeks. Add more emphasis to your eyebrows. Keep the flow of its natural arch. Then, the cheeks should be flushed with the perfect amount of blush, which is more of just dabs, to bring life back to the face.
Eyelashes are all the rage in France, not by using falsies, but by conditioning your natural lashes so they will grow and just be volumized with mascara. That would be the next step. Curling it with a touch of your eyelash curler and adding on the mascara. You can say goodbye to your eyeliners. You won’t be needing it in this look.
Go Bold
Lastly, the signature red lips. Yes, French girls love a bold lip. It is the main statement of the face. Red is more of the go-to color but being daring on the lips is where the most fun happens. You would want to line your lips with a lip liner then add on the lipstick. This way, your lips look voluminous.
Putting this look together with neutral clothing and tousled hair will complete your Parisian woman makeover. Remember to keep it simple, natural, and clean. But don’t forget those lips! Au revoir!
