Today we’re talking about one of the latest trending TikTok hashtag be delusional and what it really means to romanticize your life. You’ve probably heard iterations of the phrase that’s trending all over social media “i’m in my delusional era.”
Well, that’s because TikTok user Kia Lewis is sharing her mantra that encourages people to be delusional and not to succumb to the pressures of achieving your dreams and goals and instead to embrace the idea that living through their own delusions in order to live a more enjoyable and fulfilled life. She shares how she’s adopted this mantra over the past year as a way to cope with reality, but also to attain more joy and fulfillment. And I know there’s a lot of skeptics of this kind of woo woo advice that talks about putting manifestation practices into play.
(01:22)
You’ve probably caught yourself reciting morning affirmations, self love affirmations, money affirmations, gratitude affirmations. I mean, there are plenty out there, right?
(01:33)
But if all it is is a reframing of thoughts and perceptions, then it’s worth exploring the idea that you can change your mindset, your perception, and how you speak about your ability to achieve right? And at the end of the day, none of these practices matter unless you set them in motion. The Law of Attraction proposes that we can manifest our dreams and positive results by simply believing that they are possible. In this way, we allow ourselves to be more open and receptive to any signs of manifestation that come our way.
But the Law of Assumption goes a step further than this. It encourages us to become so deeply entrenched in our desired reality that it almost starts to feel real and we start to see all of the evidence around us that supports its existence.
In a sense, I think both Law of Attraction and Law of Assumption are working towards the same goal and at the end of the day, none of these practices matter unless you put them into motion. I feel like in today’s day and age, younger women can really benefit from these practices to achieve their goals. When I was growing up, I was really propelled in my life by the possibility of things and the excitement of the future unknown to me.
(02:46)
My own fire spark or whatever you want to call it, came from believing that I was capable of achieving things. And I’m telling you, it made me feel so incredible just to have that thought in my mind and to see that all these years later, I not only got into university of my choice, I was able to travel to 15 countries. Plus, by the time I hit my mid 20s whatever, I didn’t realize how much my excitement for things I wanted led me to those places.
(03:19)
These days we understand that as law of attraction, energy, manifestation but none of it was delusional in my own mind back then. Well, that’s not exactly true. There definitely were instances and decisions I made that were entirely based on complete and utter fantasy in my head. But even those instances led me to amazing experiences.
(03:39)
So maybe I was just living in my delusional era back then at the time. I guess what I’m trying to reiterate is that as women, as people, no matter what age you are, we sort of need to reawaken that sense of childlike possibility that anything is attainable. The biggest thing that sticks out to me in this whole discourse that’s happening online and within ourselves is that need for guidance and reshaping the way we feel about what we can or cannot achieve, which is huge.
Everyone is looking for some kind of guidance here and looking for routines to adopt because we all have sort of been robbed of that innate ability to believe in possibilities. I mean, if you really pay attention to the amount of self limiting beliefs that go through your mind my own mind, it’s crazy. We’re all somewhat conditioned by our lives, environments, people around us, family to stop in our tracks when things get too fantastical.
But practicing positive thinking not just around the things you want to achieve, but also the way you talk about yourself or to yourself. That’s a big part of this whole thing, believing that you are capable of anything. So I guess my takeaway from all of this is to treat yourself with the same compassion you would give someone else in your shoes. Encourage yourself the way you would to a best friend and practice seeing things that don’t exist yet, but being open to them.
And lastly, just try as hard as you can to live the way you want to. It’s that main character energy. It’s romanticizing your life. It’s your wildest dreams actualized and it starts with putting that into motion. If you want to be a boss babe running her own business every day should involve the actual steps that are involved in that. If you want to be immersed in the world of fashion, then you should actively be engaging in that world, even if it’s not a paid gig.
And in fact, if you want to live your best life, then live it. I read this article that said experts believed romanticizing Your Life was a new form of mindfulness and that’s true life looks just a bit more full of magic. In my opinion, romanticizing your life is about finding and creating that incredible magic in your current life in a sort of fantastical way and also allowing yourself to dream of something more.
