I don’t know if it was the long summer to fall heatwave that we’ve had in California or the self-inflicted heat damage that made my hair feel like straw—but I was desperate to find something that was going to restore the moisture back into my hair!
I have pretty curly kinky hair and so having moisture in my hair is essential for my hair anyway. Also I do rely heavily on great conditioners, oils, leave in conditioners and masks to retain some sort of moisture balance because I use a flat iron at least once a week.
However, I was in need of a really good hair mask that was going to restore and hydrate my hair. This time though I wanted something that was going to add an extra boost of moisture and somewhat of a treatment. I’ve tried a few decent hair mask treatments over the years, and some diy treatments, but nothing that I was in love with that I’ve purchased—until now.
I’m not usually one to try very many high end products unless they’re specifically designed and proven to work well on textured or curly hair. But I just stumbled across a 1.5oz packet of the Nexxus New York Salon Care Humectress Ultimate Moisture Protein Complex Intensely Hydrating Masque—and it really was a goddsend.
After shampooing with a sulfate free shampoo and then following with conditioner, I applied this hair mask and left it on my hair for as long as I could, usually 10-15 minutes. After rinsing off the hair mask my hair feels so incredibly silky. I always tend to have fall out when I rinse because there’s usually considerable breakage in my hair, but it felt fortified and there was virtually no fall out whatsoever. I wonder if it’s the protein working it’s magic! My hair felt great and was even better when i let it air dry. It was bouncy and my curl patterns were more defined. I loved my hair in just its natural state which isn’t the easy thing to make manageable. I absolutely love this hair mask and will definitely be taking these packets with me on trips away from home and I definitely plan on purchasing the full size container.
If you’re busy, but don’t have a lot of time to spend on your hair when it desperately needs some TLC, then give it a go! A little bit goes a long way and just the 1.5oz packet lasted me three uses. I would highly recommend this for anyone needing emergency hair rescue both at home or away for salon quality care.
