The Best CVS Skin Care Products

The Best CVS Skin Care Products

If you were ever curious about the best CVS skin care products, then today’s post is for you! I’ll just start by saying that skin care takes top priority over makeup for me any day. I also am a big believer that some of the best skin care products on the market don’t necessarily have to come with a hefty price tag. Amazing skin care products can be found at some of the most unlikely places. And today we’re going to explore one of the best skin care brands I’ve found sold exclusively at CVS!

Getting Skin Deep

Makeup is awesome and still necessary for me, but I’ll never want to just let my makeup sit on top of bad skin. It never works for me particularly and I can’t hide bad skin very well anyway so I try to take care of it. I also feel that great skin care doesn’t have to come with an expensive price tag. At the end of the day, it’s all about what works best for you.

For a few years I obsessively stuck to one skin care brand line and that was Dr. Jeffrey Dover’s Skin Effects exclusive to CVS at the time. From the foam cleanser, Glycolic cream cleanser and Glycolic Spf Day cream–everything was 5 stars for me and worked together beautifully. Of course skin changes as you get older, but nothing compared to how bright, blemish free, and buttery my skin was. Sadly…the line was discontinued. My entire skin care regimen was kaput.

Exclusive Line At CVS

It was only until last year that I discovered a whole line of products that resembled Skin Effects. From the products and their consistencies down to the packaging of the products, it looks like they came back! I’ve never been more convinced that the brand was back in stock only under a new name Skin+Pharmacy and a new look to the packaging with a broader range of skin treatments. Whether these products truly compared was what intrigued me. So let’s see how they measured up.

Glycolic Galore

What I love about Skin+Pharmacy Glycolic Cream Cleanser, I had loved about the SE Glycolic Cream cleanser. Most cleansers don’t stay on your face long enough to do a whole lot. I never really took much stock in cleansers doing much aside from cleaning. But this cleanser when used with a face brush truly does brighten and improve the texture of my skin. Buttery was a compliment I use to get years ago when I would use the SE cleanser and now I’m hoping with continued use (over time) my skin will get back to that considering this mirrors that product exactly. The exfoliating properties in this extremely gentle and non-stripping cleanser is what gets the job done. I’ve used this cleanser with a brush every two-three days for best results but also because it makes you really sensitive to the sun.

Which brings me to my next review. The Glycolic Day Moisturizer with Spf 30. The consistency of the cream again is exactly the same as SE one as well as the ingredients. The consistency is the same and glides on with such ease to the skin, almost a cross between a gel and a cream. Back then I would notice that this particular day cream which also is a glycolic product protected my skin from harmful UV rays much more than any other spf moisturizer I’ve used in the past. How I judged that was how resilient my skin after exposure to extreme heat and sun. I liked the idea of wearing a moisturizer that not only gave me sun protection, but that was also treating my skin.

Sun Damage Repair

Usually my skin reacts to sun protection and heat by drying up and cracking where I’d laugh or squint, I aslo always tan easily within a matter of seconds which would leave my skin feeling fried. But this moisturizer seemed to be giving me great coverage from UBA/UVB rays and my skin felt resilient. I can say that this moisturizer from Skin+Pharmacy is no different! I thoroughly enjoy applying and wearing the moisturizer. It’s awesome with or without makeup. It absorbs well without feeling dry or greasy. I love feeling like my skin is being treated throughout the day most of all! My only complaint is I wish the container which has a unique pump– was larger.

The last review is for the S+P Glycolic Peel Pads. Skin Effects had a container of these sort of pads which made me stop using abrasive exfoliates for a long time. Like I said these products all worked beautifully together and these pads were definitely a staple along with the rest. The same is true with Skin + Pharmacy only these pads might be a bit stronger as they are a peel, individually wrapped and tingle a bit more than the other pads did. I use these about once a week. I feel like that’s more than enough considering all of these products are glycolic.

Worth it?

I am absolutely a lover of Skin + Pharmacy (aka Skin Effects) and I couldn’t be more ecstatic that it’s returned. The fact that it’s a CVS exclusive brand totally makes me feel like it’s a secret I have to share! Wooooooo! Review done.
